March 22nd: Science through the seasons: 5:30-7:30
This session will show how to build background knowledge and vocabulary for young learners by focusing on incorporating seasonal scientific exploration in the preschool classroom, and providing instruction and support for outdoor learning. Participants will learn how the seasons connect children to the natural world and also meet CT ELDS.
April 3rd: Discovering nature: A model nature walk: 5:30 - 7:30
Participants will focus on scientific exploration inside and outside the classroom. Learn more about inquiry-based science and how to incorporate it into your preschool classroom. Participants should be ready to spend time in the outdoors during a Model Nature Walk. You will learn how to use the inquiry-based questions and observations to encourage young learners to engage in investigations and make predictions about nature found in your own neighborhood. This workshop will help teachers connect children to the natural world and also meet CT ELDS.
