Help!! Auerfarm is in desperate need of a new tractor!! Due to an unpredictable incident, our tractor caught fire and burned. We cannot go without a tractor to help with hayrides, grooming the long roadway to the farm, mowing the fields and orchards and caring for the animals. Any help would be appreciated! Visit https://secure.squarespace.com/checkout/donate?donatePageId=59f8685d27ef2d4ad3349642 to donate. Every little bit helps.

Auerfarm Selects Barbara DeMaio as
Interim Executive Director

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – March 10, 2019 – Auerfarm 4-H Education Center in Bloomfield, Connecticut has recently selected Barbara G. DeMaio as their Interim Executive Director, as they begin the search to permanently fill the position.  Auerfarm has engaged the services of Harvest Development Group, Middletown, CT, to recruit DeMaio and conduct the search. “Barb is a seasoned business executive with more than 30 years of strategic, results-driven experience and a strong commitment to the community.  She’s the perfect choice to carry on our mission as a center of excellence for children and adults to learn about and enjoy agriculture, science and the environment,” said Mark Weisman, Chair of the Auerfarm Board of Directors  “We thank Harvest Development Group for swiftly applying their experience with nonprofit organizations and bringing us such an excellent candidate.”

“Auerfarm’s extensive history as a vital, community resource where children and families learn about and enjoy the ambience of a farm was a great, emotional selling point to interested candidates,” said Melanie Cecarelli, co-partner of Middletown-based Harvest Development Group, a consultant firm working specifically with nonprofit organizations.  “We are confident Barb will provide the type of leadership to continue Auerfarm’s impact on those it serves.”

DeMaio comes to Auerfarm from Solutions By Design, LLC, where as CEO and founder she focuses on product innovation and customer experiences for the healthcare and financial services industries.

Prior to that, DeMaio served as Global Head of Health Product Development & Design for AIG, and Head of Customer Operations, Local and Regional Business, and Head of Individual Business for Aetna.  She has also held positions with MassMutual Financial Group and CIGNA Corporation.

DeMaio’s community service has included membership on the board of directors of Gifts of Love, the advisory council of the Boys & Girls Club of Hartford, the Women’s Leadership Advisory Board and as a Vice Chair/United Way Executive.  DeMaio is presently an adjunct professor at the UConn School of Business.

DeMaio received her B.S. in Accounting, summa cum laude, from UConn.  She resides in Simsbury, Connecticut.

Our entrance and roadway were recently redone thanks to three generous donations from the Koopman sisters through the Beatrice Fox Auerbach Foundation Fund. Enjoy the ride we have every morning on the way up to the farm.
