SUMMER PROGRAMS 2009
Summer days, lazy days? Not for summer on Auer Farm! Instead of lazy, children will be busy learning real world inquiry science…on a real world farm. The staff members at the farm are experienced teachers and farmers and emphasize hands on experiences and opportunities to learn by doing.
The 4-H Education Center at Auer Farm offers a variety of educational and fun programs and activities throughout the summer for children of all ages, individually or in youth groups or with their families.
The weekly sessions is open to children from age 4 to age 12 to learn practical science on a working farm. The sessions are held Monday through Friday from June 22nd through Aug 14th. Children learn farming first hand and experience the daily life of a farmer. There is no better place than Auer Farm with 120 acres of classroom for children to discover in real life the properties of soil, the life cycles of flowering plants, different plant and animal adaptations to obtain air, water, food and protection. It is on the farm where food is produced and it is here on the farm that children learn the source of locally grown foods and the essential components of a balanced diet.
The 4-H Education Center at Auer Farm also offers an 1½ hour program for small and large groups of children of all ages. Groups can schedule a field trip in June, July or August. They explore the 120 acres by hayride, churn and eat ice cream, learn about the farm animals and explore the gardens. Children are invited to bring their lunches to eat under the roof of our pavilion or in the beautiful garden picnic area.
Invite us and we will bring the farm to you! The program has two fun hands on lessons of either Rock and Roll Ice Cream or Nutrition in Action.
is a great way for children to spend an afternoon with their families and friends. Together experience the farm through the guidance of informed member of the farm team. Explore the farm by hayride, make and eat ice cream, pick blueberries or raspberries and spend time in the animal barn and leisurely walk through the flower gardens. Family Fun programs are in July and August on every Wednesday and Friday at 1pm)
Another fun activity for families in the summer is . Schedule a day that matches the date of the event your family wants to celebrate. It can be a birthday party, a family reunion or even a group picnic.
