Apples, Raspberries and Blueberries: Favorite fruits for all. Understand the life cycle of fruit commonly grown in New England. How are these fruit affected by weather and climate, insects and diseases?
Careers in Agriculture: Learn about agricultural related careers. Understand the contemporary science needed to grow food.
Farm City: Understand the connection between the farm and the city through field to table lessons.
Farmer as a Scientist: Students explore the skills and knowledge in math, science and environmental conditions that a farmer uses to produce the food we eat.
Fields of Genes: This is a developmental environmental program that introduces biotechnology to children. Lessons are designed for preschool through 8th grade.
Food Mood: Nutrition and food sources presented in a social studies framework. Choose a single or multiple lessons
Herbs: Culinary and Medicinal: Explore the role of herbs in preservation as well as pharmaceutical and nutriceutical properties.
Our Roots In Agriculture: Students explore the history of farming in Connecticut and the importance of agriculture today.
Team Building: Small groups of students work collaboratively on science experiments, observations and problem solving using the 120-acre farm as a classroom.
The Land: The program presents the value of preserving farmland, a limited resource. The focus is on the value of natural resources on our lives.
Wildlife: Recognize species and habitats of plants, animals and insects found in Connecticut.
A Yurt for Chickens: All living things have basic needs; which includes shelter. Students will explore the shelters that people build for their families and animals. They will design and build a yurt, portable housing, for chickens.
